A young girl from South Los Angeles tries to make it to the National Spelling Bee. Well when you watch the cover of the movie, you might think that this is just for kids. I tell you that it is indeed for kids AND for the entire family. Haha, the movie shows how a young, scared, no confidence girl to be successful in his own field. And it would also show you sportsmanship in a competition. I love the entire story, good actors and actresses. How it was directed is good as well, you wont be bored with soft voices!
I honestly do not know most of the actors, they look familiar, but the film itself is great for the entire family. Here is how the story goes, Akeelah, an 11 year old girl is really good when it comes to spelling. Her instructors in school believed she has the special skill in this field. But the bad thing is, her mother does not support her. Her mother just wanted her to finish school that’s it.
Well since this girl really has the skill/knowledge her own instructor pushes her to join the national spelling Bee. To join it she must win the spelling bee in the school to complete to other schools. Then in the national competition. Since Akeelah has no confidence, she still needs a lot of assistance that is why her instructor offered help by sending his old friend Mr. Larabee to help and teach her for practicing the spelling.
Her mother supported her eventually, she even had more friends. Even the person who is considered her competitor for the championship became her good friend. Watch, it is amazing. Guaranteed no bad scenes, but there is a little bit of bad words shown on this movie though. But it is fun, you’ll enjoy a lot.
You will surely enjoy this, you will understand and find that spelling is not just about memorizing but also about knowing the origin of the word, and where it was derived, as well as the definition.
